Master/slave

People get involved with Master/slave relationships for many, many reasons.

The primary difference between Master/slave and other DS relationships is the idea of ‘ownership’. DS may be an adjunct to a relationship. A Master/slave relationship is of, in itself, the reason for the relationship.
