Bianca Biaggi is a Brazilian pornographic actress, now retired from the porn industry, who was suspected to have infected Darren James with HIV in Brazil, leading to an industry shutdown.
The ensuing fears of HIV spreading throughout the adult performer community caused a one month (end announced May 12, 2004) shutdown in production of adult movies in the United States, and inflamed debate on the risks taken when filming condomless, anal and foreign location scenes.

- A male performer, Darren James, tested positive for HIV in April and, to prevent another HIV outbreak, an urgent search was initiated for his potentially infected partners. A total of four more performers, Bianca Biaggi, Jessica Dee, Lara Roxx, and Miss Arroyo were diagnosed with the virus by the end of the testing rounds, including one unrelated case in New York. James had apparently had contact with 12 women since his initial negative HIV test in March upon his return from a Brazil shoot.
